Guide to setting up X-Lite

 Overview

This guide will talk you through setting up your account to use the X-Lite phone. X-Lite is a free software phone that clients can use to connect to our services.

Instructions

1. Once your account has been set up, log into the Kesher Communications control panel at https://www.keshercommunications.com/user/

2. Click on the Extension menu button.

3. You will be presented with a list of phone system extensions on your account. Click the extension number you wish to set up.

4. These are the login details you will need for this extension. Keep the browser window open (or write down the details).

5. Open a new browser window, and go to the following address:- http://www.counterpath.com/x-lite-4.0-for-windows-download.html

6. Click the link that says “To Begin Download, Click Here”. Download and install X-Lite.

7. When X-Lite runs for the first time, the phone may not be displayed. Look for this icon in the system tray next to the clock, and double click

8. Once the phone is displayed, click the Softphone menu, then Account Settings.

9. The first tab should be the “Account” tab.

10. Using the information from Step 4, enter the following information:

a. For “Account name”, enter the Extension Name
b. Protocol should be on SIP.
c. In “Allow this account for”, both checkboxes should be ticked.
d. Under “User Details”:

i. For “User ID”, enter the SIP Username. Make sure you match the upper case and lower case letters.
ii. For “Domain”, enter the SIP Server
iii. For “Password”, enter the SIP Password. Make sure you match the upper case and lower case letters.
iv. For “Display Name”, enter the Extension Name again.
v. For “Authorization Name”, enter the SIP Username again. Make sure you match the upper case and lower case letters.
vi. Tick the option that says “Register with domain and receive calls”, and check the option that says “Domain”.

e. Now switch to the “Voicemail” tab, and click “Check for voicemail”.

i. Under “Number to dial for checking voicemail”, enter 1571.

f. Now switch to the “Advanced” tab, and enter the following:-

i. For “Reregister every”, enter 300 second.

11. Now press OK, and the phone should connect.

12. To test the service, dial 555 and you’ll run an echo test which will allow you to hear yourself to check that the phone is both sending and receiving sound.
Please note, its usual to have a small delay with this test service.
